i.Voice Members (and Leaders!) have been busy fundraising over the last couple of weeks for the group in order to fund badges for our uniforms as well as a social event amongst other things!
On Saturday 21st February, the group took part in a Bag Pack at Asda Chesterfield, raising £255.75, an amazing amount which will be put towards improving the group, designing and purchasing badges for our members and helping to facilitate our future meetings and events! Being a District-based group, any funds we raise will benefit every Scout/Explorer Group in the District who are currently a part of the Youth Council
Saturday 7th March, i.Voice set up shop at the new Asda Living in Chesterfield, with some very fetching bunny ears to run a Chocolate Tombola for Shoppers to have a go on! The concept is self-explanatory and ,as it turns out, very popular!
We raised £162.46 with our Chocolate Tombola, taking our fundraising total up to £437.84 with a donation from a parent following a previous fundraiser before Christmas
Thank You to everyone who helped support these Fundraisers: Members, Parents & Leaders. Also thanks to Asda and Asda Living for having us and special thanks go to Tesco, 3rd Wingerworth Scouts & 1st Hasland Scouts for donating chocolate to raffle off on the day!
We look forward to our 4th Meeting on Sunday 19th April 2015 at 1st North Wingfield Scout Group
See you soon

Last weekend (23rd – 25th January 2015) saw Matt and Izzy from the i.Voice Team head to Drum Hill Scout Camp, Derby to participate in the Derbyshire ‘Scouts Speak Up’ Course. The SSU is led by Media Managers and representatives from The Scout Association. 15 Young People, either heading to Japan to the World Scout Jamboree or are part of the Youth Ambassador Team for Peak 2015 were shown how to use Media to promote Scouts effectively.
Matt and Izzy learnt how to make the most of Print, Radio and TV Media and the do’s and don’ts of each. This was done through a series of interviews and practices to replicate this such situation.
This will benefit i.Voice as Matt and Izzy are now able to share with the members the skills they have learnt. Youth Led Media is becoming ever important in Scouting, especially in Derbyshire with County Youth Media Team (of which Matt & Izzy are a part of). The weekend was a lot of fun, thanks to Simon Carter, Stuart Card, Pamela Thompsett and organised by our own ACC Young Leaders, James Stafford.
To find out more about the Speak Up Course follow @Scoutsscarter on Twitter & follow the hashtag #SSU!
That’s all for now, we will see you in February for our first fundraiser!
