Scouting in 2015 has kicked off with a bang with many Scout groups taking part in the County’s ‘Chilly Challenge’, sleeping under canvas overnight in sub-zero temperatures at our picturesque (if not cold!) District Campsite, Spitewinter.

Scouting in Chesterfield in 2015 is set to be one of our most adventurous yet; the District Calendar is crammed full of exciting events and competitions for our Young People from all sections to take part in including a brand new Orienteering Competition for Scouts in February! 3 Explorers from our District will also be setting off on an Asian Adventure travelling to Japan for the 23rd World Scout Jamboree with a contingent from Derbyshire.

Closer to home; Peak 2015 is taking Scouts and Explorers on ‘a journey through time’ as many of our groups will take part in the International Camp at Chatsworth House in July. Look out for Izzie and Matt from the Media Team at Peak as they will be rubbing shoulders with Scouting and Guiding Officials, Politicians and Celebrities visiting the camp as ‘Youth Ambassadors’

Youth Shaped Scouting is also taking a firm grip in Chesterfield as i.Voice begins its 2nd year as our District Youth Council, sharing opinions and thoughts of our Young People and feeding them into our programme of what we want Scouting to look like for the future. On a national scale, Youth Commissioner Hannah and her team are working hard developing the National Youth Council for Scouts in the UK. Scouts from Chesterfield are hoping to play a part in this by sharing the experience and success of i.Voice at the YouShape event in Central London next month. To find out more about how Scouts in Chesterfield are helping to shape the future, follow i.Voice on Twitter @ivoice_scouts and keep upto date with national goings-on by checking #YouShape We want to know what Scouting in 2015 looks like to you!
