Many Thanks to all the Young People & Parents who attended our Birdholme Taster Session for 6-14 year olds wanting to become part of the Scouting Movement in Chesterfield! We had an amazing response with over 100 Young People attending the event, giving just a flavour of what Scouting has to offer, with the potential of developing a new group to meet at St Augustine’s Church in the very near future!

Young People got to experience a range of Scouting activities such as Mini-Archery, Pioneering, Leathercraft and even making Camp Doughnuts! With the help of the Regional Development Service in the East Midlands, we have been able to secure funding for a new Scout Group in the Birdholme/Grangewood area, which has not been home to an active Scout Group for nearly 20 years!

The aim of the evening was to introduce those new to the movement about what we do, what our goals are and how we aim to develop a Scout Group in the area!

With 49 young people, 10 adult leaders and 15 volunteers signing up on the night, the future of Scouting in this area is looking ever more likely

We will let you know more about this exciting venture when we hear more news…

To register interest as a Beaver (6-8), Cub (8-10), Scout (10-14) or an Adult Leader/Volunteer then please email our District Commissioner (Glyn Jones) at
