Hundreds of people lined the streets of Chesterfield on Sunday Afternoon (26th April) to watch the annual St George’s Day Parade of Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and Scout Network members in Chesterfield. The parade circled the Town Hall on Rose Hill then made its way down Knifesmithgate towards the Crooked Spire.

The Parade was attended by his worship the Mayor (Alexis Diouf) and Lady Mayoress of Chesterfield, County Commissioner (Derbyshire Scouts) Tom Stoddart, County Chairperson Carol Grew and other dignitaries invited by the District.

This year’s theme was ‘We Are One’, led by Rev. Jo Morris. The service encompassed both traditional and modern day aspects of Scouting, focusing upon how the fundamental aims of Scouting is shared by its members all across the world. With inclusivity being a major part of our Vision for 2018, this is both topical and relevant.

Well done on an excellent turnout! The weather remained glorious and we were able to share how brilliant Scouting in Chesterfield is!
